Goal of EXIBA Environmental Group
The EXIBA Environmental Working Group was set up in January 2006 to address environmental issues affecting the production and use of extruded polystyrene (XPS).
This working group's specific objectives are:

  Blowing Agents
Ensure the medium to long-term availability of HFC as blowing agent in XPS by monitoring the development of European and national regulations. The working group will act when necessary by advocacy with European and local regulatory authorities. Advocacy may be alone or together with associations of other HFC users and producers.
Dangerous Substances in the Construction Product Directive (CPD):
Ensure that the XPS product image is unaffected by the CPD and limit testing to the necessary requirements by monitoring the work of CEN 351. Act if necessary directly as liaison member of this committee or via CEPMC.
  Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)
Ensure XPS data is represented fairly compared with other construction materials at EU level. Preparation of external communication of benefits of XPS based insulation via EPDs.
  Waste
Monitor development of European regulations related to construction product waste.
